McDonald’s Croatia: Supporting development through opportunities, rewards, and flexibility

McDonald’s Croatia has once again earned the Employer Partner certificate this year, reaffirming its systematic and long-term approach to investing in the quality of human resource management.

We are extremely proud that our work and efforts in the field of human resources have been recognized again this year with the Employer Partner certificate. We are especially pleased to see how our employees progress and take on more responsible roles within the company. This sense of pride in their development motivates us to continue listening to their needs, supporting their work, and continuously improving our practices to help them reach their full potential, said Mario Jušić, Head of Human Resources at McDonald’s Croatia.

Opportunities for development and flexible work arrangements

McDonald’s Croatia offers valuable opportunities for professional development to students, enabling them to actively participate in business improvements and providing access to scholarships. Aware of the challenges students face in balancing academic and work obligations, last year the company supported 29 talented and dedicated students with scholarships to help them further their education and career progression.

However, employee care doesn’t stop with students. McDonald’s ensures all employees have a transparent and fair system for career advancement, recognizing and rewarding their efforts and achievements. With clearly defined criteria for professional growth, the company has implemented a reward system that includes various bonuses and benefits. Last year, all employees received raises and additional financial rewards as recognition for their contributions.

To further enhance employee satisfaction and well-being, McDonald’s continuously collects and analyzes their feedback on workplace benefits, striving to implement changes in line with their needs. In addition to material and non-material benefits, employees have access to flexible work arrangements that make it easier to balance work and personal obligations.

Engaged employees as the foundation of a successful organizational culture

Employee involvement in shaping quality working conditions is a key element in ensuring their well-being and job satisfaction. McDonald’s Croatia approaches this systematically by regularly conducting engagement and organizational climate surveys. The high response rate to these surveys indicates that employees recognize the importance of participating in the co-creation of the work environment. However, gathering data alone is not enough. McDonald’s Croatia uses the survey results as a foundation for concrete action plans that address the needs and suggestions of employees.

In addition to satisfaction and engagement surveys, the company encourages active employee participation in the hiring process. Through a referral system, employees have the opportunity to suggest candidates for open positions, and they are rewarded for their contributions. This approach not only helps find new talented team members but also strengthens the sense of belonging and mutual connection within the organization. In this way, McDonald’s Croatia is building a positive organizational culture where employees feel valued, included, and motivated for further development.

The Employer Partner project has truly accelerated the introduction of desirable HR practices in the Croatian market and has had a significant impact on several neighboring countries in recent years.
